Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I have to book through the AACD designated travel agent?
All participants are encouraged to purchase airline tickets through the AACD designated travel agency. The travel agency works with major airlines to secure the lowest possible rates. The AACD official travel agency is Globetrotter Travel and they can be reached at 877.485.2278. Spectators MAY also purchase airline tickets through the official travel agency and take advantage of the low rates.

2. Who can I bring as a spectator?
Parents, family, coaches - anyone can accompany a participant ON the AACD ground package.

3. I am in 4th/5th/6th or 7th/8th grade.  Am I required to have an adult travel with me ON the AACD ground package?
Yes, an adult must travel with all participants in 5th-8th grade and must room with them for the week.

4. Does the participant price in the brochure under the quad package cover four people for the week?
No, all prices in the brochure are per person. 

5. Can a spectator room with their participant?
Yes, parents, family and coaches can room with the participants.However, no more than 4 people are allowed per room. AACD does not allow opposite gender spectators to room with participants if they are not related.

6. Do I have to follow the payment schedule?
You may pay the amount in full up front in one installment, or at any time. If not, the payment schedule must be followed.

7. Do I need a registration form for each spectator?
Yes, each spectator needs to return a registration form. Please make copies of the spectator form for each spectator attending.The participant form must be the original. 

8. Is the $75 deposit refundable if I do not attend the Tour?
No, the $75 is a non refundable deposit.

9. When will I receive an itinerary of events?
AACD will send a tentative itinerary in November. You will receive a detailed itinerary when you arrive in Hawaii.

10. Do I have to attend all scheduled events while I am in Hawaii?
Yes, it is required for all participants to attend every activity and practice scheduled by AACD.

11. I am a participant and my sister is 20 years old, can she accompany me as my spectator/guardian for the week in Hawaii?
No, an adult over the age of 21 must also accompany both of you if your sister would like to attend on the AACD ground package. 

12. Am I required to compete in the individual competition?
The AACD National Scholarship Invitational is an optional event.  However, you MUST complete the competition registration form and return it to our office by the required date to compete. The competition registration form can be found under the Forms link.

13. Where can I find the rules and regulations for the AACD National Scholarship Invitational?
The 2009 AACD rules and regulations can be found on the AACD web page under the AACD National Scholarship Invitational link.

14. Is there a competition for 4th/5th/6th and 7th/8th graders and do they win scholarship money?
AACD does hold an individual competition for participants in the 4th/5th/6th and 7th/8th grade.  However, winners in the 4th/5th/6th and 7th/8th grades will be awarded titles and trophies. Scholarships are awarded to competitors in the 9th grade - college freshmen only.

15. When are auditions for "Featured Stage Dancers"? 
Auditions will be held the first full day you are in Hawaii.  Skill requirements for the auditions will be posted at check in when you arrive in Honolulu. 

16. Where can I find the required forms to download
and send to AACD?

All required forms can be found on the AACD web page under the Forms button and will be made available on the website approximately three weeks before they are due.
